Day 24 :: June 10, 2009

We were taught to pray: “Thy Kingdom come.”
Why would we be taught to pray that unless the Kingdom might come?
And did our Lord have more in mind for us in that request?
That when Your Kingdom comes, Your will is done,
On earth as it is in Heaven.

And if this is true,
Which I believe with all of my heart,
Then certainly, You are the mover, You are the actor, You are the Do-er.
Because You are the One who does Your will in heaven.
And on earth…
It is You, the Holy Spirit, who does Your will.

And if the Spirit lives in me,
If the Spirit lives in you,
If the Spirit lives in Your Church,
Then the Spirit works Your will through me, through you, through the Church.
And nothing will hinder You.

But we still pray “Thy Kingdom come.”
Because we want direction,
Because we need motivation,
Because we have done Our will, not Yours,
Because we struggle.

And we still pray “Thy Kingdom come.”
Because You have direction.
Because You motivate us to good works.
Because Your will is perfect, for You and for us.
Because You love Your Church.
Because You love us.
Because You love people who haven’t even met You yet.

May Your Kingdom come.
May we embrace it.
May we embrace You.
