Day 33 :: June 19, 2009

Almighty God -

Thank you for all your many blessings.
You are a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.
You have delivered us from darkness but I sometimes have a tendency to miss the mark.

All your creation shares your fingerprints.
When I look at another human, may I see your image.
When I care for the Earth, may I see your handiwork.
May we give full appreciation for every creation we encounter.

Strengthen us!

Jesus -

Renew our faith in your salvation.
Free us for joyful obedience.
Free us from assumptions about others.
Free us from self-indulgence.
Free us from pride and judgmental attitudes.
Free us from the idols that divert our attention from your love.
Free us to see your church with your eyes.
Free us to see the world with your eyes.
Free us to see ourselves with your eyes.

Holy Spirit -

Fill our flesh.  Fill our spirit.  Awaken within me a flame that cannot be quenched or snuffed out.  I pray today I will hear you moving in new ways within me and without me.  With love and peace may we live with those who look differently than us.  May we hear those who think differently than us.  And Lord, may we move as The United Methodist Church to reclaim your love for this world.  May the UMC be a vessel for your love.  May we be concerned about building the Kingdom and not just maintaining the institution.

Your love, oh Lord, is good enough.
