It's really interesting to note that there are more people in the ordination process to become deacons than ordained deacons!
Also, note how the gender balance is changing across the categories, and how deacon candidates are becoming a bit more diverse.

No provisional Elders in the DAC
I'm an ordained Deacon and it was interesting this past weekend to see that we commissioned no persons for Elder and 3 for Deacon in the Detroit Annual Conference. Not all that surprising after hearing the interests of colleagues in seminary.
I wonder how that will change the Disciplinary stuff around Deacon in future General Conferences.
